Graphic Designer at Moment Magazine

Moment Magazine is currently seeking a graphic designer to join our office located in Washington, DC. This position handles all art requests, supports production for the print magazine (bi-monthly) and website and collaborates across departments to work on advertising, marketing, sales and branding projects. Ideal candidates would be proactive designers who can work efficiently on a small team and can handle multiple projects with ease. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, a strong sense of typography and working knowledge of web and mobile design are essential. Candidates would have an eye for detail, pride themselves on flexibility and be conceptual thinkers.

The position would require in-person work in our Washington, DC office during the deadline.

General responsibilities:
– Oversee art direction, design and layout for Moment‘s bi-monthly print publication, including the cover and promotional materials.
– Handle all pre and post production duties, including developing the imposition, placing ads and formatting files for the printer.
– Edit photos and execute photo research and assignments (as needed).
– Produce digital and print illustrations.
– Collaborate with the print, subscription and distribution teams to upload and order the magazine and accompanying subscription cards, direct mail and promotional material.
– Work with advertisers who choose in-house design services.
– Create artwork for email blasts and momentmag.com.
– Use WordPress to post and design stories on momentmag.com.
– Collaborate on social media projects and develop mobile stories.
– Art direct and curate Moment’s brands (including newsletters, online events, gallery, and other special projects) and all in-house promotional materials.
– Keep up-to-date knowledge of current design trends.
– Assist with special projects as needed (e.g., presentation templates, event programs, logos, shop page promos and other graphic elements).

Requirements:
– 2+ years of design experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic/ Design (or equivalent experience).
– Strong creative vision and typography skills.
– Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on InDesign and Photoshop
– Proficiency with print and web file preparation.
– Basic knowledge of HTML.
– Knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, CSS and responsive design a plus.
– Detail-oriented, well organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
– Ability to work independently and under deadline pressure on several projects simultaneously.
– Team-oriented attitude.
– Flexibility to work weekends and last minute overtime as needed.
