Job Description

Condé Nast Traveler is looking for an Editorial Operations Manager who will work closely with the Director of Operations to manage day-to-day work streams and budgets. This person will also coordinate with CNT offices across international territories liaising with editorial, sales, and finance. The ideal candidate will be familiar with digital strategy and editorial process, understand business operations, and have superior verbal and written communication skills. It is vital that they be an efficient and empathetic manager with strong instincts for upholding the values and integrity of a fast-moving multiplatform media brand. This position reports jointly to the Director of Operations and Deputy Global Editorial Director. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage team members to create streamlined workflows, engender a productive and inclusive work environment that is in regular and open communication with all offices
  • Work closely with business counterparts to ensure needs are being met across global editions and platforms
  • Manage all department budgets, including editorial and staff operations budgets
  • Manage close schedule to ensure all deadlines are met on time and on budget 
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the processing of all payments to vendors  
  • Optimize operations to gain cost and labor efficiencies, while helping staffers do their jobs more easily
  • Facilitate communication across groups to ensure work is happening in sync
  • Partner with Director of Operations and Deputy Global Editorial Director to enhance the staff culture by fostering ongoing communication regarding key initiatives 
  • Generate annual content budgets, monthly issue estimates, tracking travel and future story costs
  • Review staff travel and expenses and other departmental expenditures
  • Process payments to contributors and liaise with editors to ensure contracts are current
  • Ensure that all contracts are vetted and approved by the Corporate Contracts Department
  • Assist with the global editorial calendar across all platforms and socialize to relevant sales teams

  • 5+ years of experience in a related field

  • Positive and collaborative team member
  • Extremely organized and able to prioritize and multitask
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office systems, GSuite & K4
