The Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of electronic publishing. The appointment begins August 20, 2020. The Department seeks candidates who can contribute to the excellence and diversity of the academic community through teaching, other forms of engagement with students outside of the classroom, creative work and service activities.

The ideal candidate will have significant professional experience in the publishing industry and teaching experience in a professional or academic setting. A master’s degree in publishing, journalism, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should describe experience in community service/engagement partnerships through college coursework, student organizations, or as a member of the publishing profession. Candidates should also outline a scholarly/research/or professional work agenda that could result in a successful tenure case.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include developing and teaching introductory to advanced level undergraduate and graduate publishing courses in both the residential and online programs. The current curriculum includes courses in electronic publishing fundamentals, e-books and e-publications, web development, markup languages, content strategy, metadata, user experience, and social media. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentorship, assisting in the admission process, and serving on other department and college committees. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
